I think @Keruaran That may be true, that he used GNU, but had there not been such, he would have used something else and it would work all the same. Linux is inevitable. Linux is unstoppable. Microsoft tried to kill the Linux, but they failed, and were thrown to the ground. Apple tried to become the Linux, but they failed, and were thrown to the ground. BSD tried to outwit the Linux, but they failed, and were thrown to the ground. Commercial Unix systems tried to outclass the Linux, but they cost money

I think Would be nice if someone gave you Linux so drivers are mostly a thing of the past huh.

I enjoyed that. Now back to day 3 of trying to get my printer/scanner drivers to work.

I think ya, now is when people will agree with it most so they really should re-post at least SOME linux commercial. this one is a little too long, but the ibm ones are good

Linux rules!!!

Linus used GNU tools to code Linux. Without RMS there would be no Linux as we know it.
March 13th, 2010 at 6:34 pm
One of the best commercials ever made.

Gnu is just a little part of the system known as “linux”, you could also name it GNU/X11/Apache/TeX/Perl/Python/Linux if you would want to. That is why we just simply call it Linux.

I think this has to be the best made commercial I have ever seen! to bad they dont show it on TV anymore…
March 19th, 2010 at 11:26 pm
I think It was on linux first. Works better with linux and development for it is more active for linux.

I’m saying that the names refer to different ways of making distros these days, yes GNU is the system and Linux is the Kernel however if you get GNU it will use entirely open source software for everything, whereas Linux will use propriatory software out of the box, this is the major distinction between the GNU named OS and the OS’s going under the Linux flag.
March 28th, 2010 at 12:06 pm
GNU is the system linux is it’s kernel1 what are you talking about, every known linux distro is in fact GNU/linux.
richard stallman said something like : “GNU is a system Linux on of its kernels” talking about gnu/herd

At least it’s better than microsoft’s ISS.
March 31st, 2010 at 3:58 am
I think Certainly not as well though.

I think Hey, Apache doesn’t just run on linux/ unix, it also runs on windows…

Most of the modernized world runs on Linux or Unix. Virtualizing your Windows servers via ESX? ESX is a Red Hat system. The internet? Most of it is hosted on Apache.
The desktop market is a large hurdle to jump for OSS, but it’s eventually going to happen.

the correct word is
*Comercial
